Our Mission
Ember is a think-and-do tank. We wade through frustrating and overwhelming issues to identify and highlight things we can do in our everyday lives to shift norms, to build community, to forge a new social contract for a humane future. We nurture the smoldering embers, giving them fuel so they may ignite and become sources of light, warmth, and sustenance.
Meet the Team
If life doesn't also hand you sugar and water, your lemonade is going to suck. Individuals have incredible potential, yet systems and norms must change for everyone to have access to resources and opportunities. I bring to Ember 14+ years of facilitating dialogue in highly diverse teams, solving communication breakdown puzzles, examining power dynamics, and aligning organizational practices with values. And, I bring a flickering hope that maybe, just maybe, if we connect, strategize, and join together we can create a world in which everyone's lemonade tastes good.
I'm a Scientist, Engineer, and Entrepreneur with a decade of experience forging businesses from the ground up. I've worked on small startups all the way to massive big tech companies in Silicon Valley. I enjoy thinking about how I believe the world should be rather than how it is and I aim to break down the barriers standing in between.
I'm a data scientist wrapped in a university student affairs professional wrapped in a social-personality psychologist wrapped in a manual laborer. I'm also an ADHD kid of a single mom from the socioeconomically immobile US South. My layers don't just inform what I do and how I do it, they inform why I do what I do. The embers that smolder inside me compel me to use my data powers for good, to creatively solve problems of inequity and indignity, to empower people not to sell them.
